Military Spouses

Getting a federal job as a military spouse has become easier.  Effective September 2009, Executive Order 13473 gives agencies the option of hiring qualified military spouses without going through the competitive process.

In addition, military spouses may have access to up to $6,000 to assist with licensure, certification or educational opportunities leading to a portable career. More information about this can be found on Military OneSource.

The first website below links to the central database for all government jobs. Here you will find the most comprehensive list of military health vacancies for your desired position and location. Next is a link to Military OneSource, which offers career and other resources to members of the military and eligible family members.  The Military to Medicine  website allows the military spouse to research the hospitals in the area and alert them of the spouse's proposed arrival date and skill set for immediate placement in jobs or training classes.  Finally, the Military Spouse Career Center includes many resources, from employment opportunities to school finders and other family resources.
