A New Health.mil

It’s my pleasure to welcome you to the new Health.mil.

You might be wondering why we have redesigned the Web site. Well, we have you to thank for this new site design. We used the feedback you’ve given us over the years to redesign and make this site better—easier to navigate and easier for you to find the information for which you are looking.

Since launching Health.mil in July of 2007, we have regularly added new sections to the site: the MHS Blog, Healthy Debates, Webhalls, MHS Profiles and MHS Vital Signs, a Social Media Hub…the list goes on. Response to all this material has been great, and we are happy to have seen a steady increase in visitors over the past three years. With that growth came increased feedback by e-mail, our comments boxes, and via the Foresee feedback survey that occasionally pops up when you first come to the site.

Thank you for letting us know where we’ve succeeded, and where we could improve. Your feedback has helped us shape the new Health.mil so that it is better organized, better looking, and more seamlessly integrated with our social media effort.

The new design better serves the MHS’s health care beneficiaries by providing links to TRICARE and eBenefits up front. We have also installed an easy-to-navigate layout that provides multiple paths to the information you need, including site map access and a topic index on every page. The new site includes improved Section-508 compliance for the disabled and is easier to use with mobile devices. Because the MHS is a modern health care system, it only makes sense that its Web site has a modern look and feel.

Still, at its core, this site is the same Health.mil. We will continue to regularly update you on news in the MHS, this blog will continue to feature messages from MHS leaders and announcements from around the system, and there will be many more videos, Dot Mil Docs podcasts, and special features to come. You can of course still visit our special section of the site that honors and remembers the military medical personnel of OEF/OIF who gave their lives while saving the lives of others.

I want to thank you for visiting Health.mil and taking interest in the valuable work of the Military Health System, from health care delivery on and off the battlefield to research to education and training. Please continue to provide your feedback, and I hope that you will visit us regularly.
