My Spouse Career Advancement Account Under Review

MHS stakeholders (especially military spouses) will be interested to know that a popular financial assistance program has been temporarily halted so that a review can be performed ensuring the program is meeting its intended purposes. The My Spouse Career Advancement Account program, also known as MyCAA, offers military spouses opportunities to pursue portable careers in high-demand occupations such as health care.

The break is said to be temporary, but a date has not been established for resuming services. Meanwhile, military spouses who have already been approved for financial assistance will not be affected.

According to Elaine Wilson of the American Forces Press Service, "During the review process, officials encourage spouses to explore other government options such as the transfer of the Post-9/11 GI Bill and other programs available on installation and program Web sites. Spouses also can visit Military OneSource for free consultations on education and training, career exploration, assessment, employment readiness, and career-search assistance."
