Use Social Media to Recruit

Almost all organizations are using traditional online resources, such as Monster.com, Careerbuilder.com and other sites to advertise vacant positions. These sites replaced the newspaper in many cases. However, more and more candidates are connecting via interactive social media sites (like this blog) to find information about jobs.

Social media contains an interactive element – allowing participants to share information back and forth. Channels such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and others can help recruiters find qualified talent (especially in Generations X and Y) for critical positions.

Has your organization started using social media to help recruit? If not, we’d like to provide you an introduction and help you get started. The MHS Office of Human Capital has created a primer called “Using Social Media in Recruiting.” Click here to find this guide on our Web site.

We hope you will find it useful as you get started!
