Basic Patient Safety Manager Course
The Basic Patient Safety Manager (BPSM) Course is a five-day, highly interactive course designed for new Patient Safety Managers (PSMs) who have been in their role less than one year. Learn more by visiting the BPSM page.

The DoD Patient Safety Program partners with several Federal agencies and nonprofit organizations, as well as, participates in numerous conferences and events throughout the year. Order Patient Safety Materials

Patient Activation Reference Guide
The Patient Activation Reference Guide is designed to provide skills and techniques to health care team members as they encourage and enable patients to assume greater control and responsibility of their health and health care. It consists of five modules that each offer insight and background on an aspect of patient activation as well as links to a wide range of resources that assist the team in moving the patient forward on the patient activation continuum. Patient Safety Learning Center (PSLC)
The DoD PSLC is a knowledge collaboration space that facilitates the dissemination, collaboration, and active exchange of knowledge and resources to increase awareness and promote communication across and among the Patient Safety community. The PSLC is a Member-based community, dedicated to advancing knowledge and enabling you to create intentional connections among and across professions and facilities. The PSLC is intended for DoD, military, and sponsored contractors who are actively engaged in patient safety activities. DoD personnel can register for an account by visiting the PSLC page.
Patient Safety Resource Guide
The PSP Resource Guide was developed to engage, educate and equip readers with products, services, tools and solutions made available by the PSP to help ensure the safe delivery of health care in the MHS. The guide provides helpful links and contact information for readers interested in learning more about the highlighted resources within the guide. TEAM UP
The TEAM UP brochure offers a starting point for engaging patients as part of a care team. Specifically, TEAM UP is a simple mechanism for patients to understand the types of actions and questions they should initiate to optimize their care. Learn more by visiting the TEAM UP page.
TeamSTEPPS®
The DoD PSP actively assesses, trains and implements Team Strategies and Tools to Enhance Performance and Patient Safety (TeamSTEPPS). TeamSTEPPS is designed to optimize patient outcomes by improving communication and other teamwork skills among healthcare providers who reliably deliver safe, high quality care. TeamSTEPPS consists of numerous ready-to-use materials and training curricula necessary to successfully integrate teamwork principles into all areas of a healthcare system. Toolkits
Toolkits are intended to be small, self-contained resource modules for just-in-time learning and application.
Toolkits are designed with the following use in mind for anyone on the healthcare team (clinicians, administrators, Commanders, residency directors, nurse practioners, medical technicians, credentialers, facilities staff, educators, trainers):
- Use a toolkit as a reference and information source regarding the specific tool.
- Incorporate a toolkit into existing curricula to introduce team members to the tool’s key concepts and its use on clinical units.
- Leverage a toolkit to create and deliver training on a specific tool.Toolkits are designed with three audiences in mind:
