Training curricula are available for teaching both “Train the Staff” courses, as well as “Train the Trainer” courses. An Essentials Course is designed for training nonclinical staff, and Fundamentals Courses are available both for direct care providers as well as for instructors. These courses are further explained below, with links to all coursework content.
TeamSTEPPS "Train the Staff" Courses:
TeamSTEPPS Essentials: This curriculum is a 1 to 2 hour condensed version of the Fundamentals Course and is specifically designed for nonclinical support staff.

TeamSTEPPS Fundamentals: This 4 to 6 hour course, designed for direct patient care providers, teaches the teamwork competencies, skills, and related tools required of high performing teams. This course includes 7 online modules.

TeamSTEPPS "Train the Trainer" Course: This 2-1/2 day course is designed to create a cadre of teamwork instructors with the skills to implement a TeamSTEPPS initiative, and train and coach other staff members. This course includes a total of 11 modules. In addition to the 7 modules presented above in the TeamSTEPPS Fundamentals Course, there are 4 additional modules that are designed for teaching TeamSTEPPS instructors that focus on change management, coaching and implementation. TeamSTEPPS Video Vignettes: A set of videos that highlight the TeamSTEPPS tools and shows examples of how each tool is put into practice. The videos include the following tools: Brief, Call-Out, Check-Back, Cross Monitoring, CUS, Debrief, DESC Script, Feedback, Handoff, Huddle, IPASSTHEBATON, SBAR, STEP, Time Out, and the Two-Challenge Rule.

The Teaching Feedback Form: This form is included in the Instructor Guide and is used to evaluate the teaching skills of instructors who are developed to teach TeamSTEPPS courses. Practice Teaching Sessions Guidelines provide further guidance and a template for teaching assignments for TeamSTEPPS instructors.

TeamSTEPPS Dental Module: The videos contained within this module show how dental staff who perform oral surgery and general dentistry can use the TeamSTEPPS teamwork, leadership, mutual support, communication, and situation monitoring skills in their practices.

Pocket Guide: This is a reference guide for frontline staff who have been trained in TeamSTEPPS, as well as, a guide utilized by trainers to facilitate the TeamSTEPPS Essentials Course. This guide highlights the key principles of TeamSTEPPS, namely Team Structure, Leadership, Situation Monitoring, Mutual Support, and Communication. Within these principles, the guide highlights tools that may be adopted by frontline staff to implement TeamSTEPPS in their facility or organization.
