TeamSTEPPS National Implementation Project

Since the release of TeamSTEPPS in 2006, the Department of Defense and AHRQ have received numerous requests for both the curriculum and guidance on training and implementation. To address this growing need, AHRQ and the Defense Department have teamed with the American Institutes for Research to build a national training and support network called the National Implementation of TeamSTEPPS Project.

At the core of national implementation are 5 Team Resource Centers at Duke Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina; Carilion Clinic, Roanoke, Virginia; University of Minnesota Fairview Medical Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota; Creighton University Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska; and University of Washington Medicine, Seattle, Washington. The Team Resource Centers are conducting 2.5-day master trainer training courses.

TeamSTEPPS Collaborative

The annual TeamSTEPPS Collaborative is a joint venture between the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and DoD. It is an opportunity for staff in the DoD Military Treatment Facilities (MTF) as well as in civilian organizations, to come together to focus on selected topics related to improving communication and reducing medical errors by integrating teamwork principles into daily practice, from a multidisciplinary perspective. Participants are able to connect, learn, and share success stories, lessons learned and emerging practices.
