Air Force Wounded Warrior Northeast Warrior CARE Photo Essay

The Department of Defense, Military Departments, Military Health System, and collaborating organizations marked Warrior Care Month in November by highlighting the strength and resilience—physically, mentally, and spiritually—of wounded, ill, and injured service members and their families and caregivers. These efforts aimed to raise awareness of the recovery coordination resources and programs available today and inspire year-round discussions about warrior care priorities. Warrior care encompasses a full spectrum of support through recovery, rehabilitation, and reintegration back to duty or transition back into the community.

The DOD continuously evaluates the needs of the warrior care programs to ensure an exceptional level of care is provided to the current and future population of wounded warriors.

To celebrate Warrior Care Month in November, the Air Force Wounded Warrior Program hosted a week-long CARE event at the National Harbor in Maryland, culminating in a Day of Healing event held on November 17. Throughout the week, the DOD’s wounded warrior program held sporting and art events at the National Harbor and Joint Base Andrews, in Maryland, for wounded warriors, families, caregivers, and veterans. Activities included cycling, swimming, weightlifting, basketball, volleyball, track and field events, art, and much more.
