Women's Mental Health Mini-Residency

Residency

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and Department of Defense (DOD) plan and execute a women’s mental health focused training each year. The purpose is to provide VA and DOD mental health team members with knowledge and skills to deliver gender-sensitive care to women veterans and service members, and to further develop a community of practice.

Description

Nationally recognized VA and DOD subject matter experts will share their knowledge on unique aspects of women's mental health, including the key influences of sex, gender and reproductive cycle stages.

Following the training, participants will understand the continuum of experiences of women veterans and service members. Participants will gain knowledge to develop strategies and action plans to disseminate best practices for gender-sensitive mental health care to providers and leadership at their local facilities.

Target Audience

VA and DOD mental health team members, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, counselors, advanced practice nurses, registered nurses, physician assistants, pharmacists and behavioral health technicians.

Cost

No registration cost for VA and DOD participants.
