Women's Mental Health Mini-Residency

Topics to be addressed:

Purpose

To provide Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and Department of Defense (DOD) mental health team members with knowledge and skills to deliver gender-sensitive care to women veterans and service members, and to further develop a community of practice.

Description

This series of live virtual workshops will be interactive, providing more in-depth discussion for a small-group audience. Nationally recognized VA and DOD subject matter experts will share their knowledge on unique aspects of women's mental health, including the key influences of sex, gender and reproductive cycle stages.

Following the training, participants will understand the continuum of experiences of women veterans and service members. Participants will gain knowledge to develop strategies and action plans to disseminate best practices for gender-sensitive mental health care to providers and leadership at their local facilities.

Target Audience

VA and DOD mental health team members, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, counselors, advanced practice nurses, registered nurses, physician assistants, pharmacists and behavioral health technicians.

Cost

No registration cost for VA and DOD participants.

Dates/Times

  • Aug. 2, Aug. 9, Aug. 16 and Aug. 23, 2022
  • 11 a.m.–1 p.m. ET and 2–4 p.m. ET

Continuing Education

Interested participants are required to register for up to two individual workshops. Up to four hours of continuing education credits are available for participation in this activity. Registration will open in late June, pre-registration is required for DOD participants to determine eligibility. Each workshop is limited to 35 participants. Pre-registration will open on or about June 14, 2022.
