Student Rotation Information

Thank you for your interest in rotating at Womack Army Medical Center. The following information is provided to help answer questions regarding the medical student rotation process. If you have additional questions please do not hesitate to contact the student coordinator by email at: dha.bragg.womack-amc.list.dme-gme@health.mil and via phone at 910-907-6139.

Medical Students

  1. All rotations must be requested through the student coordinator using the WAMC rotation request form. Send an email to dha.bragg.womack-amc.list.dme-gme@health.mil to receive a request form.
    • Do not contact the departments directly, as this may result in over-scheduling causing unexpected cancellations.
  2. Interview season for 4th year medical students is from May to October each year. Rotation requests from 4th year medical students intending to interview (Active Duty Training and non-ADT) will be given the highest priority.
  3. Rotations at WAMC are competitive. Rotation requests should be submitted on the earliest allowable date. WAMC will accept rotation requests when students are within 9 months of their intended rotation month. Rotations should be requested no later than 120 days prior to the requested start date. See document for details.
    • When the medical student limit is reached per specialty, the student coordinator will work with medical students and the department to secure an alternative date, sub-specialty rotation or rotation in an alternative specialty for an on-site face-to-face interview.
    • HPSP students are limited to one ADT and one Non-ADT rotation at Womack per academic year.
  4. Medical students will receive a confirmation email once the rotation is scheduled.
  5. 120 days prior to the start of the rotation medical students will receive an onboarding packet. Immediately begin submitting the requested information. If the requested information is not received within two months of start date of your rotation your rotation will be automatically cancelled.
  6. Health Professions Scholarship Program Medical Students requesting a rotation must have a Affiliation Agreement in place between WAMC and the student's medical school. This process can take from two to six months. The student will provide the student coordinator the contact information for the school to establish the agreement.
  7. Civilians, with no military affiliation, will undergo a background check and fingerprinting as part of the onboarding process. The instructions will be provided within the onboarding packet and must be completed to rotate at Womack.
  8. Before the start of the rotation students will receive an email with instructions for the first day of their rotation.

Nursing Students

  1. All rotations must be requested through the student coordinator using the WAMC rotation request form. Send an email to dha.bragg.womack-amc.list.dme-gme@health.mil to receive a request form.
