Electronic Drug Monographs

Throughout 2022, military pharmacies will implement the use of electronic drug monographs. QR codes on prescription vials will replace the printed drug information typically given when beneficiaries pick up prescriptions.

While beneficiaries can still request paper copies of their prescription's information, beneficiaries will gain additional prescription resources and information when scanning the QR codes. The use of QR codes will help to reduce paper waste, as well as provide beneficiaries with an easier way to access details regarding their prescription.

The materials in this toolkit will accomplish the following:

  1. Provide military pharmacies with supporting materials such as social media graphics, pharmacy inserts, and screensavers to inform beneficiaries of the change to electronic drug monographs.
  2. Educate beneficiaries on how to access their electronic drug monographs.
  3. Inform beneficiaries of the information and additional resources that is available to them upon scanning the QR code.
