Separation Health Assessment (SHA)

Definition:

A complete history, review of systems, and physical exam performed by the VA as part of the Separation Health Assessment (SHA) Program in accordance with the standards set forth in the 2013 VA/DoD memorandum of agreement (MOA). It is intended to meet the statutory and DoD requirements for a separation exam. An automated template may be used to capture both the history and physical examination, as available. The SHA may also include additional exams deemed necessary for rating purposes.
