Date of Publication:

7/26/2023

Definition:

Action invoked against a health care provider, privileged or not, with the result that the authority to practice clinically is adversely affected. Adversely affected privilege(s) or practice are the result of a due process professional review action based on evidence of misconduct, or incompetence, or any conduct that adversely affects, or could adversely affect, the health or welfare of a patient, and that leads to the inability of a provider to exercise their privilege(s) or practice with their own independent judgment. This is the collective term used in this manual that encompasses both an adverse practice action and an adverse privileging action.
