DHA Clinical Training Programs

The Defense Health Agency Clinical Training Programs are the premiere platform for producing expert clinicians, trained to the scope of practice required in the operational force, and assimilated in the Medical Corps.

The CTPs are Enlisted and Officer programs supported by either DHA or Military Departments. These CTPs include all health programs excluding programs from the Graduate Medical Education (GME) and Graduate Dental Education (GDE). Clinical Training Programs are specialized educational and training frameworks designed to prepare military healthcare personnel to provide medical care within the unique context of military service. These programs are tailored to meet the specific needs of the armed forces emphasizing those clinical skills necessary to provide care in hospitals and clinics. 

CTPs play a vital role in preparing healthcare professionals to meet the unique demands of military service. These clinical training programs are built to include awareness of diverse patient populations and the unique challenges of providing care within the military. The students go through a robust evaluation process and are supervised with direct oversight during their clinical rotations to promote the development of professional skills while collaborating among various military medical personnel, fostering teamwork and effective communication in delivering patient care. By emphasizing hands-on experience and teamwork, these programs ensure that military medical personnel are equipped to provide high-quality care to service members, their families, and civilian populations in various environments.
