Corporal Aaron M. Griner died on June 28, 2006, in the Helmand Province of Af­ghanistan when his vehicle struck a land mine while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. He was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Battal­ion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division out of Fort Drum, New York. A Funeral Mass was given on Friday, July 14, 2006, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Tampa, Florida.
