Pfc. Paul O. Cuzzupe, 23, died August 8, 2010, in Akhtar-Mohammad-Khan, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. Cuzzupe, of Plant City, Fla., was born on the Army base at Fort Riley, Kan., as both of his parents served in the U.S. Army. A week before his death, Cuzzupe was honored with the Army Commendation Medal for his efforts to save an Afghani child's life who had lost both legs and an arm.
