I am a military mom. I’ve been in the Air Force for 26 years and am currently work at DHHQ. I have a 3-year-old and a 9-month-old. I feel incredibly blessed to be a mom – it was a long road to get here – and military medicine played a large role in that. Being a military mom means a constant balancing of priorities, making the most of each moment, modeling the power of service, and of not just telling – but showing – my daughters that the world is full of possibility. Command Sgt. Maj. Kalani Kalili stands with her youngest son, Pfc. Israel Kalili, a recent graduate of the U.S. Army Infantry School. As a military Mom, “I have a whole new appreciation of serving our nation in uniform and a great deal of respect for this new generation that is joining the Army.” As a military brat herself, Command Sgt. Maj. Kalili said she is very proud of her son for continuing the legacy of military service to our country. “When Israel picked this path, he was like ‘look Mom, I know I can do it’ and I am very proud that I have a son who will take that hard path because not many will.”
