Being a mother to a new active-duty service member is hard to put into words but it shares some of the same everyday emotions as any mother, I believe. There’s more worry than I’d like to admit. There’s plenty of days that are spent encouraging, being a virtual shoulder to cry on or just a safe space to vent to. There is, however, an overwhelming sense of pride. I am beyond honored to be one of the few that get to receive her many calls of excitement sharing her personal accomplishments and growth.
