The Research and Engineering Directorate's Research Support & Implementation Division enables enterprise-wide scientific studies, research activities, and analyses to advance DHA’s combat support role by addressing military specific research priorities. The division performs research support functions in joint clinical investigations, implementation science, military health system research, regional research support centers, and enterprise support for clinical trials and research data management.
Provides funding and policy recommendations and oversight and management for clinical investigation programs at military hospitals and clinics. The Clinical Investigations Program facilitates research and training to support graduate health sciences education and other allied health programs of the services to contribute to medical readiness and further enhance patient care in the MHS.
Provides support and consultation on using implementation science methods to promote the adoption and integration of evidence-based practices into health care in the MHS, thereby improving health outcomes for service members and MHS beneficiaries. Implementation science is the scientific study of methods to promote the systematic adoption of research findings into routine clinical care.
Supports Military Health System projects to innovate and improve military health care by enhancing our understanding of system-level improvements and identifying factors influencing care delivery in the MHS.
Regional Research Support Centers
Bridge the gap for a DHA enterprise-wide research support capability by providing consistent research support services to local and regional investigators and facilitating research partnerships to further enhance military medical research and drive development of cutting-edge medical technologies, treatments, and practices.
Research Data Management
Leads research data management efforts with relevant DHA and MHS offices including issuing guidance on research data processes and procedures under DHA data governance, providing applicable research data collection support, facilitating data management for portfolio studies, and providing data reporting and dissemination.
Clinical Trials Coordination
Supports, coordinates, and facilitate enterprise-wide clinical trials, monitors selected clinical trials, develops guidance and correspondence with DHA offices, and ensures adequate matching of clinical trials to specific DHA sites.
