Definition:

The official with the responsibility to report to the National Practitioner Data Bank, State(s) of licensure, and other applicable certifying or regulatory agencies following appropriate due process proceedings.

The report authority is the DHA Director with respect to matters arising from acts or omissions of health care providers practicing under or privileged by a privileging authority under the responsibility of the DHA; or the surgeon generals of the Army, Navy, or Air Force, respectively, with respect to matters arising from acts or omissions of health care providers practicing under or privileged by a privileging authority under the responsibility of the Departments of the Army, Navy, or Air Force, respectively.

Designated report authorities ensure there is a comprehensive review of the entirety of such matters.
