Medical and Dental Preventive Care Fitness is your ability to sustain your health and wellness and facilitate restoration to meet medical and dental standards for fitness for duty, return to duty, and medical readiness.

The Military Health System (MHS) is responsible for the overall oral health and readiness of service members—both active and the Reserve component. Additionally, the MHS offers dental insurance plans that all other TRICARE beneficiaries can purchase if they choose.

The MHS is committed to the long-term health and vitality of our nation’s warfighters, their families, retirees, and civilians. Part of maintaining readiness is preventing the onset of diseases and injuries that pose a threat to the Defense community. Prevention enhances the overall health, performance and availability of the force.
