Homeland Security Presidential Directive-5 requires all Federal Departments and Agencies to adopt National Incident Management System for domestic incident management. NIMS and the National Response Framework established an all-discipline, all-hazards approach to the management of domestic incidents.
On Nov. 29, 2005, the Deputy Secretary of Defense signed Implementation of the National Response Framework and National Response Plan, which requires the Department of Defense to fully implement the NIMS. These courses provide individual and service specific hands-on didactic training with NIMS.
The Emergency Management Institute, located at the National Emergency Training Center in Emmetsburg, MD, offers a broad range of NIMS-related training, on-line and in-resident. With the support of EMI and the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Division of Emergency Management, DMRTI provides several courses needed for individuals to become NIMS compliant.
