The clinically-driven Medical Materiel Enterprise Standardization Offices (MMESOs) provides significant value, quality, and fiscal benefits to the Department of Defense.
MMESO Goals
The MMESO goal is to support the enterprise in implementing an integrated collaborative clinical process for medical materiel standardization that combines operational and institutional requirements to:
- Improve clinical outcomes
- Enhance readiness and training
- Control costs
- Improve interoperability

- Support enterprise-wide standardization of medical materiel and equipment
- Integrate institutional and operational standardization
Basis for Standardization
- A clinically led enterprise program reduces the number of different products within specific product lines allowing volume discounts and improving quality of care by thoroughly reviewing products.
- Best value purchasing optimizes inventory space and improves caregiver satisfaction through involvement in item selection.
- Continuity pertaining to product knowledge can be obtained by staff during deployment situations promoting readiness and improved clinical outcomes.
