How will this residency help you?

Our goal is for our resident to be prepared to make a difference in patients' lives and in the profession of pharmacy from the managed care viewpoint. Our residents will be held responsible and accountable for acquiring these outcome competencies: managing the drug distribution process; designing and implementing clinical programs; ensuring the safety and quality of the medication-use system; providing medication and practice-related information, education, and/or training; designing effective benefit structures; exercising leadership and practice management skills; and demonstrating project management skills.

What will the curriculum involve?

The residency curriculum is based upon the goals and objectives for PGY1 managed care residencies developed by ASHP. Prior to the beginning of the residency, a needs assessment of the resident's previous experience will be completed and the year- long curriculum will be developed based upon the needs of the resident and the goals and objectives developed by ASHP/AMCP. The resident will be oriented to the sites and to staffing during the first two months of the residency. The remainder of the year will be dedicated to longitudinal experiences in many different focus areas with a longitudinal research project completed worthy of publication.
