It'ss time to mark your calendars for the 2021 VA/DOD Women’s Mental Health Virtual Mini-Residency which will take place virtually Sep. 21-23, 2021. This exciting training event is an opportunity for mental health providers working within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and Department of Defense (DOD) to refresh their clinical skills and knowledge in serving women veterans and service members and their families.

This year's Mini-Residency aims to be inclusive and affirming to all veterans and service members who would benefit from a more gender-sensitive approach to care, including clients served by the VA and DOD health care systems who may not identify as "women," such as those who identify as non-binary or gender non-conforming. There will be sessions to help providers enhance their ability to approach clients in an affirmative and culturally sensitive manner, being mindful of the intersectionality of their identities.

This live 3-day event will provide 12 hours of continuing education credits. The engaging and informative training will address issues that you likely encounter in your work with women veterans and service members. Our nationally recognized speakers will present on a range of topics related to women's mental health issues across the lifespan such as sexual health, Click to closemenopauseA point in time 12 months after a woman's last period. This transitional period begins between ages 45 and 55.menopause, and perinatal-related concerns. Other sessions of interest will address culturally sensitive care, ostracism, affirmative care, complex trauma and emotion regulation, women in combat, provider compassion fatigue and burnout, and more. Visit the PHCoE website for more details.
