Disease Mapping
IB’s Geographic Information System Section analyzes and reports geo-referenced health surveillance data through static maps, interactive web-based maps, and dashboards. The GIS Section manages the Health Surveillance Explorer, a web-based mapping application that supports Force Health Protection planning and implementation by integrating health event information from both military and civilian sources, providing a near real-time picture of militarily relevant health threats across the globe.
HSE data is gathered and synthesized from a variety of sources, surveillance platforms, and databases, creating a centralized hub for stakeholders. It contains digital and interactive dashboards that provide up-to-date information on disease outbreaks, health events, and environmental conditions.
