FALLS CHURCH, Va. – If you live overseas, the MyCare Overseas app makes it easy to manage your health care at home and on the go.

“MyCare Overseas lets you get help with health care services and manage your TRICARE benefit, all in one place,” said Michael Griffin, program analyst with the TRICARE Overseas Program Office at the Defense Health Agency. “It’s a handy tool for finding providers, getting real-time language help, tracking your referrals, and much more.”

What can the app do for you? Check out these five useful features.

1. 24/7 assistance worldwide

No matter where you live, International SOS, the TRICARE Overseas contractor, can support you 24/7 through MyCare Overseas. You can get medical assistance or advice, answers to your TRICARE claims or enrollment questions, and much more. Need instant answers to your questions? You can also access a self-service chatbot for more immediate help.

2. Easy access to the Near Patient Program

MyCare Overseas can also help you access your local Near Patient Program (NPP) care team. As noted in the TRICARE Overseas Program Handbook, NPP provides in-country medical professionals who work with TRICARE Overseas providers. These experts can help you use the local health care system. Get in touch with your local NPP team if you’re enrolled in TRICARE Prime Overseas or TRICARE Prime Remote Overseas and live in one of the following NPP locations:

  • Bahrain
  • Belgium
  • Germany
  • Greece
  • Italy
  • Japan
  • Luxembourg
  • The Netherlands
  • Poland
  • Romania
  • Spain
  • South Korea

International SOS recently added NPP chat availability times in each country.

3. Medical translation services

Getting medical care can be difficult if you don’t speak the local language. But MyCare Overseas can help. The app gives you access to real-time telephonic language assistance. If you’re enrolled in TRICARE Prime Overseas or TRICARE Prime Remote Overseas, you can also request and download eligible medical record translations using the app. When the translation is ready, the app will notify you. You can then download the translated documents from the app.

4. TRICARE health plan information access

MyCare Overseas gives you easy access to information about your TRICARE health plan. You can:

Need to find a local doctor? Look for providers with the TRICARE Overseas Network Provider Search Tool. Local emergency numbers, medical risk ratings, and cultural tips are also available.

5. Referrals, authorizations, and appointment reminders

Create appointment reminders, track past appointments, manage your children’s health care, and view provider contact details with MyCare Overseas. The app also tracks your referrals and authorizations. Use the app to download authorizations from International SOS. After your appointment, you can share feedback on your experience with the provider.

Keep in mind, the app only gives you information on your civilian health care provider visits. It doesn’t display military hospital or clinic visits.

Where can you find the MyCare Overseas app

You can download it from Apple App Store and Google Play app store. After downloading the app, be sure to also register. This ensures you’ll be able to use all of the app’s features. When not using the app, you can also access MyCare Overseas via your computer. You’ll sign in using the same login info as the app.
