Medical Team Performance Assessment Tool (MTPAT)

The Medical Team Performance Assessment Tool (MTPAT) is a software application that supports the transition and sustainment of TeamSTEPPS principles through evaluation, debrief and analysis of healthcare team performance in training and operational environments.

MTPAT provides the observer/evaluator with data collection tools for rapidly recording observed teamwork behaviors, and teamwork behaviors that are expected but not observed. Measures and rating scales allow for evaluating the use of TeamSTEPPS principles and tools and the application of core teamwork skills. The user interface provides capabilities for recording general or measure specific comments, assigning observations to an individual team member (role) and linking event time and observer comments with teamwork observations, to generate an annotated, sortable log of teamwork observations. In addition, MTPAT supports editing, organizing and displaying performance observations to provide post exercise feedback to the team. Summary reports can be generated in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint to support after action debrief and performance analysis.

MTPAT Streamlined Version (MTPAT-SV) provides a limited functionality tool with a user interface designed to support quick start-up and ease of use for data collection and debrief. It is designed to accommodate smaller touch screen tablets that use a Microsoft Windows Operating System.
